Dr Jacqui Barfoot
Jacqui is an experienced paediatric therapist and researcher. She is committed to creating a shift in early childhood therapies where parents are at the centre, and rich parent-child relationships are sustained and strengthened to help optimise child development. Jacqui works in a number of roles. These include:
- Postdoctoral research fellow with the University of Queensland - focusing on clinical research projects that support parents who have a child with a disability
- Reflective supervision for practising early childhood therapists
- Occupational therapy for children with developmental difficulties
- Training and consultancy for therapists and organisations
Professional Training
Innovative and practical training package for early childhood practitioners to feel confident incorporating a relationship-focused approach in their therapy as a foundation for all other areas of child development.
Clinical Supervision
One-on-one and group supervision to early childhood therapists. Jacqui is trained in a reflective supervision model. Research literature suggests that reflective supervision is a core component of effective operationalisation of a relationship-focused approach.
Occupational Therapy for Children
With 20 years' experience, Jacqui provides high quality occupational therapy to families with children with developmental delays and disabilities.
She has worked in a range of community health, disability, non-government and private practice settings across Australia. This has given her opportunities to work with families from diverse backgrounds and children with a range of developmental difficulties.
